Google announced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash on August 27, 2026 as a production-ready release available through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, with new controls for AI video generation and editing.
What is new?
The model can extend video in increments of up to 10 seconds to a cumulative length of 40 seconds, while analyzing up to 10 seconds of prior context to improve continuity. It also supports first-and-last-frame interpolation, allowing creators to define the opening and closing frames while the model generates the motion between them.
Google also introduced 360p drafts for faster iteration. Its official announcement says 360p previews can be up to 60% faster and cost one third as much as Omni 1.1’s standard 720p generation. Supported outputs are 360p, 720p, 1080p and 4K; Gemini API release notes state that 1080p and 4K are produced using upscaling.
For developers and creators
The stable model ID is gemini-omni-1.1-flash. It accepts text, image and video inputs, with the model documentation listing video input up to 10 seconds for editing and extension. Google also says the older gemini-omni-flash-preview endpoint will shut down on September 30, 2026, with the stable model as the recommended replacement.
